Kano State Police Ban Durbar Events Ahead of Eid el Kabir

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has prohibited Durbar events ahead of the 2024 Eid el Kabir festival. This decision was announced by Abdullahi Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, citing security concerns as the primary reason for the ban.

The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, had previously invited district heads for Durbar gatherings and requested police assistance to ensure safety. However, the police command emphasized that such events would not be permitted due to potential security risks.

The command extended congratulations to Muslim faithfuls for the upcoming festival, assuring them of comprehensive security measures to maintain peace. They encouraged worshippers to conduct Eid prayers at designated praying grounds and urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
