In a tragic incident on Saturday, suspected terrorists attacked Kankia town in Katsina State, resulting in the death of Ibrahim Abdullahi Baraya, a resident of the area. Governor Umar Dikko Radda expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Governor Radda called upon security agencies to strengthen their efforts in safeguarding the citizens of the state. The terrorists targeted a residential area opposite the General Hospital, Kankia, where the victim was fatally shot in the groin, as reported by eyewitnesses.
Katsina State continues to face challenges with terrorists holding influence in several areas, leaving residents in at least 18 out of 34 Local Government Areas under constant threat. Previous measures, including amnesty for “repentant bandits,” have not yielded the desired results in curbing the menace.
