Garba Hassan, a former head of the Ngeski Local Government Area in Kebbi State, and 12 other people were abducted by bandits in Niger State.
At midday on Thursday, Hassan and the other victims were being held captive in a commercial vehicle traveling along the Tegina-Kontagora road in Niger State.
According to reports, all of the victims were riding in the commercial van from Abuja to Kebbi State when the event happened.
Between Tegina and Kontagora town in Niger State, the bandits are claimed to have been waiting in the underbrush when they stormed the road and stopped the car that Hassan and the others were riding in.
It was discovered that the robbers had led the victims into a thicket before transporting them to an unidentified location.
In a phone conversation with our journalist, Ahmed Idris, the chief press secretary for the governor of Kebbi State, confirmed the occurrence.
Idris added, “Everything will be done to ensure Alhaji Garba Hassan’s release. We have heard about it, and we are looking into the circumstances that led to his kidnapping.
However, Wasiu Abiodun, the public relations officer for the Niger State Police, responded, “I will find out and get back to you.”
