Kenneth Okonkwo, former spokesman for the Labour Party presidential campaign, has urged Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and President Bola Tinubu to step aside from the 2027 election, arguing that they have failed Nigerians. Speaking on Arise TV, Okonkwo emphasized the need for new faces in leadership, criticizing both the ruling and opposition parties for not addressing the hardships facing the country.
Okonkwo pointed out that while all three major parties agreed on removing fuel subsidies, the implementation by President Tinubu was poorly executed without proper planning. He also criticized the government’s priorities, citing security issues and economic policies that he believes have worsened the situation for ordinary Nigerians.
He further argued that the opposition parties have failed to effectively challenge the ruling APC, missing opportunities to influence key decisions in the House of Representatives. Okonkwo concluded that both the ruling party and the opposition have let the people down, stressing the need for a more united and focused opposition to restore confidence among Nigerians.
