Koluama Kingdom Monarch Denies Political Endorsement

The monarch of Koluama Kingdom in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, King Ebifatei Edi-Mangi, has vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged endorsement of a governorship candidate for the upcoming November 11 polls.

In a statement issued on Saturday, King Edi-Mangi, known as Kolu XI and the Ibenanaowei of Koluama Kingdom, clarified that as the custodian of his people’s culture and tradition, he has consistently remained non-partisan and neutral in political matters.

Responding to what he referred to as baseless claims of endorsing a gubernatorial candidate, particularly on social media, the traditional ruler emphasized that he has never publicly supported any flagbearer for the forthcoming elections.

He stated, “I have a sacred duty to ensure that the cultural heritage and values of the people of Koluama Kingdom are preserved. I have never let political affiliations interfere with my responsibilities.”

The monarch discredited any narrative linking him to the alleged endorsement circulating on social media, emphasizing that it is a product of the imagination of the individuals spreading such claims and should be disregarded.

King Edi-Mangi reiterated his strong advocacy for peace and unity in Bayelsa, urging all political stakeholders and their supporters to embrace peace, renounce violence, and collaborate in the interest of building a progressive state.

While underscoring the significance of peaceful coexistence and unity among the people, he said, “We should put aside our differences and come together for the greater good of our state. Violence and division only hinder our progress. Let us focus on the issues that truly matter – the development and prosperity of Bayelsa.”

The monarch cautioned those who may have been misinformed or misunderstood the situation, urging them to direct their energies towards positive and meaningful endeavors that benefit the community.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to his traditional role as a symbol of unity and culture, and called on the people to unite in the spirit of peace and progress.

“Bayelsa State’s future is bright, and together, we can achieve great things for our beloved state,” he concluded.
