Tashiu Aminu Lulu was sentenced to five years in prison by a magistrates’ court in Kwara State for hypnotizing and raping an 18-year-old woman (name withheld).
Earlier, the defendant was detained as a result of a victim’s report to the Kaiama Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The suspect called her on the phone and asked her to come over to his residence; she complied unintentionally, according to the NSCDC charging sheet. He told her to take off her clothing when they got to the house, and she did so unintentionally as well.
“He then instructed her to do certain incantations with a calabash in her hands before having sex with her. He proceeded to use a razor blade to shave some hair from her head, armpit, and private region. She claimed, however, that ever since, she has been having nightmares.
Lulu admitted to the accusations.
The three-count accusation of criminal charm, criminal assault/force, and gross indecency against the defendant was contradictory to Sections 217, 268 and 285 of the Penal Code, according to Abubakar Umar, who prosecuted the case on behalf of NSCDC.
He was given a five-year prison term by Magistrate Abubakar Ahmed Boro, who also mandated that the charm the offender had been using be publicly destroyed.
