In the latest development, Chief Ademola Olawoore, a prominent Isese activist also known as Oluwo Of Tede, has been apprehended and is currently detained in a correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State. The arrest, following his alleged defamation of character, has caused a stir, with a video of a visibly shaken Olawoore circulating on social media.
Olawoore’s arrest took place in Ibadan on August 19 and subsequently led him to Ilorin, where he remains confined. Reports indicate that his alleged offense involves insulting a Muslim cleric named Alfa Okutagidi.
Interestingly, this incident follows closely after the arrest of another notable Isese activist, Adegbola Abdulazeez, who is commonly known as Tani Olohun. Abdulazeez, also apprehended in Ibadan, was transported to Ilorin by the state police command. His arrest was tied to allegations of defaming the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and prominent clerics from the region.
Adedamola Solesi, one of the legal representatives for Abdulazeez, as well as a Facebook page called Kwara Info, confirmed these events. Solesi offered reassurance that Olawoore’s family and friends can expect his release soon. He clarified that due to ongoing legal proceedings, Olawoore’s bail couldn’t be secured on the current day of his statement.
A Facebook post addressing the issue and titled “Defamation of character” outlined the situation: “Oluwo of Tede, who claimed Alfa Okutagidi has an Idol at home, has been arrested for defamation of character. A day after, the blogger who named himself Tani Olohun was arrested. Details to follow.”
