A faction of the Labour Party (LP) has condemned a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting led by Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti, calling it illegal. The group, led by National Secretary Umar Farouk Ibrahim, accused Obi and Otti of attempting to take control of the party’s structure.

Ibrahim argued that Obi and Otti’s actions, including their recent visit to INEC headquarters, showed their desperation to influence the party’s leadership. He also dismissed claims of offering a position to National Chairman Abure, stating that the issue is about party structure, not individual positions. The faction has called on members and the public to reject the meeting and its outcomes.
