The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has clarified that it is not offended by former presidential candidate Peter Obi’s recent comments regarding the controversial creation of the Obidient Movement directorate. The LP leadership acknowledged Obi’s right to express his views and confirmed there are no plans to remove him from his party leadership role.
Obi had criticized the LP’s decision to create a Directorate of the Obidient Movement, asserting that the movement is independent of any political party. In response, the NWC renamed the directorate to the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration.
National Publicity Secretary Obiora Ifoh stated that the party remains united and supports Obi’s clarification. Ifoh noted that the renaming of the directorate aligns with Obi’s advice and affirmed that the party respects his input and leadership.
