The strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had a significant impact on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Services (AKTS) on Monday. Operations were disrupted due to the dispute between the government and organized labor over the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. Consequently, there was no train movement from either Idu (Abuja) or Rigasa (Kaduna), affecting commuters.
Confirming the situation, the chairman of the Abuja Union of AKTS, Comrade Yusuf Kazeem, stated that no trains operated in or out of Abuja. Passengers were informed in advance about the suspension of services, preventing any major inconvenience. Ticket sales were also suspended, with online portals not accessible to passengers. Furthermore, AKTS workers participated in the strike, with staff abstaining from work in solidarity with the labor action.
