“Lagos Assembly Commences Screening of Sanwo-Olu’s Cabinet Nominees”

The Lagos State House of Assembly has commenced the screening of the cabinet nominees put forth by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on July 28. The task is being carried out by a dedicated ad hoc committee, with the aim of completing the process by Wednesday.

During the initial screening, twenty out of the 39 nominees were evaluated, including individuals like Mobolaji Ogunlende, Dr Olajide Babatunde, Lawal Pedro, Afolabi Ayantayo, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Olugbenga Olaniyi, Ogunwuyi Ekundayo, Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, Ibrahim Layode, and Adetokunbo Wahab.

On the following day, the committee scrutinized Mrs Adetoke Benson-Awoyinka, Mrs Bola Lawal, Yakubu Alebiosu, Idris Aregbe, Abdul-Kabir Ogungbo, Dr Oreoluwa Finnih-Awokoya, Abiola Olowu, Dr Adekunle Olayinka, Mosopefolu George, and Aramide Adeyoye.

The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, appointed a 12-member ad hoc committee for the purpose of this task, in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

The Chief Whip highlighted that the assembly’s responsibility lies in screening and confirming nominees for the roles of commissioners and Special Advisers. The committee’s recommendations will then be presented to the House for consideration.

The committee members overseeing the screening include Adedamola Kasumu, Ajomale Oladipo, Saheed Babafemi, Nureni Akinsanya, Ajani Owolabi, Sa’ad Olumo, Sanni Okanlawon, Adewale Temitope, Ajayi Oladele, Abdulkareem Jubril, and Orekoya Abiodun.
