The Federal Government has announced that the Independence Bridge (Marina-bound) in Lagos will be closed for repairs from April 1 until the end of May 2025. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, confirmed this in a statement on Monday.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as the closure will affect traffic from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan. Kesha apologized for any inconvenience and assured the public that the repairs are necessary for safety and road stability.

Meanwhile, the government has awarded a contract for the renovation of Tin Can and Apapa ports to Chagoury Group, a company owned by billionaire Gilbert Chagoury. The Nigerian Ports Authority is expected to make an official announcement soon.
