“Lagos Drug Warehouse Raid: N4.8B Opioids Seized by NDLEA”

In a series of impressive operations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in crime prevention and interception. The agency reported its achievements in a statement released on its Facebook page:

Massive Drug Seizure in Lagos: Operatives of the NDLEA recovered a staggering N4.8 billion worth of opioids from a warehouse hidden within the bustling International Trade Fair Complex in Alaba, Lagos. The haul included 1.4 million pills of tramadol weighing 826 kg, 3.2 million pills of codeine with a gross weight of 3,360 kg, and 2,841 cartons of codeine syrup containing 284,100 bottles with 28,410 liters of the psychoactive substance. The total street value of the confiscated drugs was N4.8 billion. A suspect, Paulinus Ojukwu, who was the Chief Security Officer to a wanted billionaire drug baron, was arrested and is cooperating with ongoing investigations.

Counterfeit Currency Bust in Abuja: In Abuja, NDLEA operatives intercepted $20 million in suspected counterfeit notes during a routine stop and search operation along the Abaji-Lokoja road within the Federal Capital Territory. The counterfeit money was found in a bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja, and the 53-year-old driver of the vehicle, Onyebuchi Nlededin, was apprehended.

Teenage Bandit Arrest and Cannabis Seizures: A wanted teenage bandit, Aliyu Mohammed Altine, was captured by NDLEA operatives along the Illela-Sokoto road with wraps of skunk. The 19-year-old suspect, who was on the police’s wanted list, was apprehended and transferred to the Sokoto State Police for further investigation.

Cannabis Farm Destruction in Osun: NDLEA operatives destroyed cannabis farms spanning about 3.49000 hectares in Mopatedo, Ifedayo local government area of Osun State. Two suspects, Sunday Otogbo and Peter Andel Makra, were arrested on the cannabis farms. In addition to the farm destruction, 30 kg of cannabis weeds and 16.9 kg of cannabis seeds were recovered.
