The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to deliver its judgment on Monday, September 25. This announcement was made by the governorship candidate for the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, via a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rhodes-Vivour revealed that he had been informed about the scheduled judgment delivery at the election petition tribunal on Monday.
The election petition tribunal has been reviewing petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, and the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, seeking to nullify the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and declare themselves as winners.
It’s worth noting that earlier in May, the tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by the Allied Peoples’ Movement and the Action Peoples Party against the victory of Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, in the March 18 governorship election. Sanwo-Olu had polled 762,134 votes to secure his victory.
The outcome of the tribunal’s judgment will have significant implications for the political landscape in Lagos State.
