Lagos Road Collapses After Rain, Residents Suffer

A section of the road linking the Ikotun roundabout to Ejigbo and other neighboring communities in Lagos State has collapsed due to erosion from a canal. The road, which had been deteriorating over the years, worsened after a recent downpour, leading to a collapse of the section.

Motorists plying the route are now faced with difficulties, as the damage has left the road almost impassable. They are forced to use a single lane, leading to traffic congestion in the area.

Local residents have expressed frustration, stating that the road has lacked proper maintenance since it was built over the canal. Despite complaints made to the government at both local and state levels, the road remained unattended.

The Lagos Ministry of Works has yet to officially respond to the situation. The collapsed road has not only caused inconvenience for residents but also poses safety risks to motorists.
