In a bid to undertake essential repairs on the entire section of the Third Mainland Bridge, Nigeria’s federal government has declared the imminent closure of the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound lanes of the vital bridge. This decision, communicated through a statement from the Federal Ministry of Works and signed by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Olukorede Kesha, aims to guarantee the structural integrity of
the crucial roadway.
The statement emphasized the need for the closure, stating, “I wish to inform the motoring public that the emergency repairs of Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will continue with the closure of Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound for the effective repairs of the entire section of the bridge.”

To facilitate the smooth flow of traffic during this period, alternative routes have been recommended for motorists to consider. The suggested alternatives include routes such as Ojota-Ikorodu road-Funsho Williams Avenue-Eko -Apogbon-CMS, and Ojota-Ikorodu road-Jibowu-Yaba-Oyingbo-Iddo-Carter bridge-CMS. Additionally, Gbagada-Anthony-Ikorodu road-Funsho Williams- -Apogbon-CMS has been proposed.
The Ministry urged motorists to collaborate with the traffic management officials deployed to oversee the situation, ensuring seamless movements and minimizing discomfort throughout the repair period. The statement concluded by expressing gratitude to the public for their past cooperation and understanding, emphasizing the importance of continued support during this crucial repair phase.
