Large shipment of illegal drugs is intercepted by the NDLEA in Ondo, Edo, FCT

Large amounts of illegal narcotics and substances have been found during searches by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the last week in Ondo, Edo, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NDLEA’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi, made this announcement on Sunday in Abuja.
He said that at the Atoshi camp, Emure-Ile, Owo LGA, Ondo State, 227 kg of hemp had been found.

There were two suspects detained, according to Babafemi.
He added that on February 14, agents in Edo intercepted a shipment of methamphetamine based on intelligence.

According to Babafemi, the shipment traveled from Onitsha, Anambra, to Lagos aboard a Toyota Sienna bus with the license plate Anambra NZM 347 ZL.

He said that the 0.966 kg meth shipment was hidden inside an African salad, or “Abacha,” a locally produced dish made of cassava.

“A 42-year-old man who was operating the vehicle was taken into custody in relation to the seizure.

The same day, on the Uromi road in Esan Northeast LGA, a group of NDLEA officials also stopped a 47-year-old man driving a Peugeot 406 space wagon.
“865 bottles of codeine, 2,600 tramadol pills, and 600 tabs of swinol and rohypnol were recovered after a search of the vehicle,” he claimed.

Comparably, he continued, NDLEA agents in the Federal Capital Territory carried out raids in the Kubwa region of the Territory and detained two people: a 47-year-old and an 18-year-old.

According to Babafemi, the suspects were found in possession of 2.9g of tramadol tablets, 13.5g of diazepam, and 10.5kg of cannabis (Indian hemp).
