LASTMA Urges Motorists to Observe Speed Limits on Newly Repaired Third Mainland Bridge

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a stern warning to motorists, urging them to adhere to speed limits while traversing the recently repaired section of the Third Mainland Bridge.

In a statement released by the agency’s spokesperson, Adebayo Toafiq, on Wednesday, motorists were reminded to pay close attention to all traffic signs and utilize the technological equipment installed along the bridge to ensure safe and orderly travel.

The announcement comes ahead of the scheduled reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge on Thursday, April 4, 2024, as announced by the Lagos State Government on March 30.

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the reopening date, emphasizing the completion of extensive repair work on the bridge.

To ensure the safety of drivers and facilitate prompt rescue operations, LASTMA plans to deploy personnel, patrol cars, and recovery vehicles on the bridge. Additionally, strict enforcement measures will be implemented to deter speeding and promote responsible driving behavior.

In light of these developments, motorists are urged to exercise caution, plan their journeys in advance, and comply with all traffic regulations to avoid accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow on the Third Mainland Bridge and its surrounding roads.

As the reopening date approaches, LASTMA remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of motorists and maintaining orderliness on Lagos roads.
