The attorney representing social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has downplayed the defamation lawsuit filed against his client by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. Deji Adeyanju, VDM’s lawyer, dismissed the case as insignificant, stating in a recent interview that it was “a complete joke.”
The lawsuit, filed at the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, alleges that VDM made defamatory statements about Chinwo, accusing her of financial misconduct involving her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (Eezee Tee). Chinwo has presented emails and payment receipts as evidence to counter the claims. The court had ordered VDM to appear on March 13, 2025, to address the allegations.
Despite the legal action, Adeyanju remains unconcerned, questioning the N1.1 billion damages sought by Chinwo. He also refrained from discussing his defense strategy, maintaining that the case lacks merit.
