The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected traffic robber identified as Ali in the Lekki area of the state. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the arrest was made in the Ikate area of Lekki through the combined efforts of residents and the police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect, who posed as a beggar on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, targeted unsuspecting motorists and robbed them of their cash and valuables under the threat of violence. The Lekki Concession Company Limited also played a role in the arrest, as its security operatives acted on an intelligence report received about the suspect’s activities.
The Chief Security Officer of the LCC, Solomon Tolafari, received reports and mobilized the Man ‘O War team to apprehend the suspect around the Ikate area. The suspect, Ali, was handed over to officers at the Maroko Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police Public Relations Officer stated that the suspect would be arraigned based on the outcome of the investigation.
