A former security employee of Lil Wayne has filed a lawsuit alleging that the Grammy-winning artist threatened him with a semiautomatic rifle and physically assaulted him at the rapper’s residence in Hidden Hills, California, two years ago.
In the seven-page complaint obtained by Rolling Stone, plaintiff Carlos Christian claims that Lil Wayne, also known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., pointed the firearm directly at him as a threat and subsequently punched him in the ear while wielding the semiautomatic rifle. Christian, fearing for his life, believed he was about to be shot during the incident, leading to severe emotional distress and subsequent treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Christian cites medical expenses resulting from the alleged assault, along with lost wages and earning capacity. He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had previously confirmed an investigation into a “verbal altercation” involving a security staffer and an adult male who allegedly “brandished a firearm” at Lil Wayne’s Hidden Hills address on Dec. 1, 2021. Although not explicitly naming Lil Wayne, the department’s statement was made in response to inquiries about the rapper.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the altercation centered around Lil Wayne accusing the security guard of taking and leaking photos to the media. Lil Wayne’s representatives denied the incident, stating that the rapper did not own a gun.
Lil Wayne, 41, has a history of legal issues related to gun possession. He previously pleaded guilty to criminal gun possession in New York and faced additional charges in a separate case involving a gold-plated pistol found during an FBI search of his Gulfstream jet in December 2019. Lil Wayne pleaded guilty in that case in December 2020 and was later granted a full presidential pardon by Donald Trump while awaiting sentencing.
