After a three-year wait since wrapping up shooting, the highly anticipated movie “One Too Many” is finally set to commence streaming on February 23, 2024. Written by Ginika Ozioko and Jeanine Okafor, the film explores the harrowing experiences of Adesuwa and her family with uniformed men, particularly when her son is wrongly accused of murdering his best friend.
The storyline delves into Adesuwa’s emotional journey as she grapples with the unjust fate that befalls her son, leading her to take a stand and fight for justice. The cast includes renowned actors such as Dakore Egbuson, Chimezie Imo, Omowunmi Dada, Late Rachel Oniga, Jide Kosoko, Paul Utomi, Kelechi Udegbe, Adeolu Funsho, Temilolu Fosudo, Rhoda Albert, Tope Tedela, and Ikponmwosa Gold.
Produced by Atinuke Akinde and Joy Grant-Ekang of Hope Pictures, the movie was filmed in Ibadan, with specific scenes shot at the University of Ibadan. Principal photography concluded in 2021, with Adeoluwa Owu serving as the cinematographer for the project.
Akinde, describing “One Too Many,” characterized it as an emotional journey depicting the challenges of finding oneself on the wrong side of the Nigerian law. She emphasized the unpredictable nature of daily life and the potential for anyone to face legal issues. “One Too Many” was previously screened at the 2022 African International Film Festival (AFRIFF), generating anticipation and positive reception. As the film prepares for its streaming debut, audiences can anticipate a gripping narrative and stellar performances from the ensemble cast.
