The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic death of 24-year-old Wasila Abdullahi, who was allegedly beaten to death by her 50-year-old husband, Alhaji Nuru Isah, during a dispute over Ramadan food preparations. According to police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Wakili, the incident occurred late on March 1, 2025, in the Fadamam Mada area near Government Girls College, Bauchi.
Isah, a businessman at Bauchi Central Market, reportedly assaulted his second wife with a cane following an argument about ingredients and fruits for their fast-breaking meal. The confrontation escalated, leading to Wasila collapsing. She was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The police have since arrested the suspect and recovered the cane used in the attack as evidence.
Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, assured the public that justice would be served while condemning domestic violence. He urged residents to report cases of abuse, emphasizing that violence in the home carries grave consequences. The victim’s body remains in the mortuary pending an autopsy as investigations continue.
