A Nigerian man has reportedly died in police custody three days after being arrested, allegedly on the orders of a female neighbor who paid officers to discipline him. The incident came to light through a viral post on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared by the victim’s brother.
According to the post, officers from the Ikota Police Post in Chevron, Lagos, arrested the man at his residence. He was reportedly detained for three days, tortured, and later died while in custody.
The victim’s brother also alleged that the police secretly deposited his body in a mortuary without notifying the family. The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The statement reads:
“My brother was arrested at his residence in Chevron by officers from the Ikota Police Post in Lagos. He was detained without committing any offense and later died in their custody.”

The victim’s brother also alleged that a female neighbor orchestrated the arrest, stating, “His neighbor ordered the arrest.”
