Nuradeen Shehu, a 37-year-old security guard at Prestige International College in Kano State’s Gwale Local Government Area, is said to have committed suicide.
Hussaini Gumel, the state police commissioner, told reporters on Tuesday that the event occurred in one of the college’s classes.
He stated that on January 28 at approximately 10:30 a.m., one Abdullahi Abdulsalam of Rijiyar Zaki submitted a complaint that Nuradeen Shehu, a security guard at the institution, was discovered unresponsive after hanging himself with rope in a classroom.
According to him, a squad of police officers from the Gwale Division, led by the DPO, arrived on the scene and forcefully unlocked the door, cut the rope, and took the body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital, where a medical doctor certified his death.
The deceased’s body was released to his or her relatives for burial.
According to reports, the deceased committed suicide after discovering his ex-wife had remarried.
Gumel also stated that the police would properly investigate the event.
