Manhunt Underway for Abductors of Nasarawa Poly Student

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has initiated a thorough investigation into the recent abduction of a female student from Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, which is owned by the state. Additionally, two other students and an admission seeker were shot during the incident.

The abduction occurred on Monday night when armed men attacked Ombi 1, a residential area for students located about two kilometers from the polytechnic. The assailants, after an hour-long shooting spree, abducted the female student and injured others.

Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the incident and explained that police officers promptly responded to a distress call about the armed robbery attack. Upon their arrival at the scene, they found three injured individuals who were immediately transported to the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia for treatment. Subsequently, it was discovered that one person, the female student, was missing, leading to the launch of a comprehensive investigation into the case.

Nansel further stated that the police were actively pursuing the kidnappers to secure the safe release of the abducted student.

However, investigative efforts by Findwhosabi Metro revealed that the kidnapped student, identified as Taye Ajoke, was a National Diploma (ND) II student in the Science Laboratory Technology Department of the polytechnic. The gunmen reportedly abducted her at around 9:20 pm on Monday night.

In addition to Ajoke, others who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack include Freedom Luka, an HND I student of Public Administration; Ogwuche Janet, an HND II student of Business Administration and Management; and Danladi Nicholas, an individual seeking admission to the polytechnic.

A source in the area reported that the kidnappers had contacted them and demanded a ransom of N50 million for Ajoke’s release. Despite their pleas that they were students with limited financial means, the kidnappers remained adamant about their demand.

The situation remains tense as authorities work diligently to secure the safe return of the abducted student and address the security challenges in the area.
