Renowned actress and film producer, Mary Njoku, has expressed her concern that the demand for justice for the late singer Mohbad extends beyond his individual case to address the broader issues within Nigeria’s faltering judicial system.
Mary firmly dismissed any notions that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death might be compromised.
Recent reports have shown growing fears among Nigerians that Mohbad might not receive the justice he deserves due to the country’s struggling judicial system.
However, Mary asserted that while she understands these concerns, she does not believe that the nation’s justice system is entirely broken. She likened these concerns to a minor blemish on the face of Nigeria’s legal system.
In her view, the issue at hand goes beyond just Mohbad; it is about a system that has consistently failed its citizens for an extended period. Mary cited the example of Mohbad filing a police report that seemingly went unaddressed.
She stated, “This is heartbreaking! With all our voices, and cries, in fact, the whole country has been in mourning for weeks now. Yet we still believe there is s possibility that it can be swept under the carpet. This is a spittle on the face of the Justice system in Nigeria. Haba! Our system can’t be that broken na.”
Mary emphasized, “Haaaaa! Dem no fit try am o! In fact, make dem no think am sef!!
“#justiceformohbad isn’t just about Mohbad. It’s about the system that has failed her people for Sooo long!!!
