Methodist Church Bestows Prestigious Knight Awards upon Mrs. Makinde, Former Ogun HoS, Sanusi, Ajao, and Others

The Methodist Church of Nigeria recently held a grand ceremony, honoring numerous individuals with prestigious titles such as Knight of John Wesley (KJW), Knight of Charles Wesley (KCW), Order of the Wesleys, and Member of the Order of the Wesleys. Notable personalities from diverse fields received these distinguished awards in recognition of their selfless service to the church, outstanding contributions to the nation’s economy, and excellence in various endeavors.

The event, presided over by Most Rev’d Oliver Ali Aba, the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, was graced by esteemed guests, including Most Rev’d Sunday Ola-Makinde, a Prelate Emeritus of the denomination.

During the ceremony, Governor Seyi Makinde stressed the significance of character building in addressing the country’s rising crime rates. He urged religious leaders to collaborate with the government in rectifying societal issues.

Princess Iyabode Orebowale Odulate, one of the recipients, used the occasion to encourage youths to stay dedicated to their faith and avoid indulging in vices. She shared her belief in the industriousness and positive impact of Nigerian youth in society.

In his sermon, Right Rev’d Dennis Mark reminded the awardees that the recognition should serve as a call to duty, while emphasizing the importance of rewarding good works. He clarified that the award should not be seen as a substitute for atonement of sins, which Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross of Calvary.

Following the ceremony, Dr. Motunrayo Ajao, President of Methodist Men’s Fellowship, Ibadan Diocese, expressed gratitude for the honor and highlighted the significance of continuous service to humanity and God. She encouraged fellow awardees to keep progressing and extending their impact.

Overall, the event celebrated exemplary individuals for their dedication to the church, nation, and humanitarian causes, reminding everyone of the church’s timeless role in caring for communities and spreading love and assistance to others.
