General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, has declared that individuals advocating for a coup d’état are Nigeria’s enemies and that they will be dealt with by the law.
Due to the ongoing unrest in the nation, the military had previously disclosed that there was pressure coming from certain unidentified sources for a takeover of the government.
However, Musa stated that the Armed Forces are at the top of their game and would keep doing what is necessary to safeguard the nation’s democracy.
Shortly after he opened the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Officers Transit Accommodation major entrances at the Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, he made this statement while answering questions from reporters.
Although he acknowledged that the nation was facing certain difficulties, he noted that calling for a coup is not the best course of action because a democratic country accomplishes more and grows more quickly.
“Whoever is making that call (coup) does not love Nigeria,” declared the CDS. We wish to be absolutely clear that the Nigerian Armed Forces are present to defend democracy.
Democracy is what we all desire, and it works better for us. Thus, we’ll keep advocating for democracy. Additionally, I believe that anyone advocating for anything other than democracy are bad people with bad intentions toward Nigeria.
“The law will pursue them, so they need to exercise extreme caution.” We can observe that Nigeria is experiencing a lot of things as a result of democracy. Indeed, we are living through difficult times; after all, nothing in life is certain.
He emphasized that, in light of the fact that the current administration is making every effort to repair the economy and address other issues facing the nation, citizens must exercise patience and assist the government in its endeavors to triumph and disgrace the enemies of the state.
“Everyone experiences difficult times in life; what matters is how you handle them,” he continued. It is evident that the administration is working hard to make sure we do better.
When you overcome obstacles and emerge stronger, you will truly understand what it takes to establish a nation. Therefore, we are now going through a difficult time, but I can promise Nigerians that things will improve.
“To ensure that we defeat those enemies of the government and this country who do not want us to succeed, all we need to do is put our hands together.”
“We will undoubtedly succeed, and the Armed Forces are here to support the Government in making sure that Nigeria develops, prospers, and experiences peace.”
