Military Warns Against Election Disruption Plot in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States

The military high command has revealed that it has uncovered a plan by some individuals to wear military uniforms with the intention of disrupting off-cycle elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States. Major General Buba Edward, the Director of Defence Media Operation, issued a warning during a press briefing in Abuja, stating that those involved in such plans should abandon them or face “injurious consequences.”

He emphasized the military’s commitment to creating a safe environment for voters during the elections and mentioned that significant deployments had been made to ensure security. Maj. Gen. Buba also expressed awareness of the plot by some individuals to disguise themselves in military gear to cause disruption, emphasizing that there would be consequences for such actions. Additionally, journalists covering the elections were promised a briefing on how to identify fake soldiers and other safety measures.
