Minister Optimistic on 2024 Budget

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris-Malagi, expressed optimism on Saturday that the 2024 budget of N27.5 trillion, presented by President Bola Tinubu, would usher in a transformative era for Nigeria upon approval by the National Assembly. He made these remarks while addressing the Kaduna State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) during their Annual Public Lecture/AGM/Awards & Election.

Idris-Malagi emphasized that the budget, aligned with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focuses on development priorities and reflects a commitment to fiscal responsibility. He praised the administration’s recognition of prudent financial management as a foundation for long-term economic stability.

As the budget progresses through the legislative process, the minister expressed confidence that its passage would bring tangible improvements to the lives of Nigerians. He highlighted President Tinubu’s recent actions, including the signing of a supplementary budget, enactment of landmark bills and executive orders, and the initiation of special presidential initiatives in various critical economic areas.

Idris-Malagi also underscored the importance of inclusivity in the administration’s agenda, emphasizing policies and programs that cater to all segments of the population, particularly youth and women. He acknowledged progress in appointments and representation while acknowledging that there is always room for improvement.

The minister reiterated the commitment of President Tinubu to push for further inclusivity and policies creating an enabling environment for Nigerians across all demographic categories. Additionally, Idris-Malagi expressed his commitment to supporting the development of the NIPR, pledging assistance in establishing a permanent secretariat for the Kaduna Chapter.

In conclusion, the minister affirmed his ministry’s commitment to fostering robust and transparent public communication, recognizing the NIPR as a valuable partner in this mission. He encouraged the institute to continue fulfilling its responsibility of providing accurate, timely, and useful information to empower citizens.
