Missing undergraduate in Abuja found dead, police launch investigation

A student of the national open university in Abuja, Nigeria was discovered dead in the forest in the Karimo neighborhood of the Federal Capital Territory. Miss Karami was reported missing on September 11.

At the same time, the police stated that their main goal is to carry out a complete and unbiased inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Miss Karami’s passing.
According to reports, the deceased was previously listed as missing after leaving her place of employment in Abuja’s Garki neighborhood before closing time on September 11, 2023.

According to our source, Aminu, who was allegedly the deceased’s boyfriend, was detained by the Divisional Police Headquarters in Durumi, Abuja, after being questioned about her disappearance.

Genesis Karami, the deceased’s older brother, informed the police that he received a strange call on Tuesday with information concerning his sister’s body, but the tip turned out to be untrue.

In his statement to the police on Wednesday at the Durumi Divisional Police Headquarters, Mr. Karami said, “The caller indicated he spotted a female body in Idu. We asked him to describe what she was wearing, and he told us exactly what we were told my sister wore to work the day she went missing.

After being unable to reach the Durumi DPO, Mr. Karami told reporters that he had to go to the Karmo police station. However, once there with a number of cops, the caller kept playing games with them by shifting locations until they got restless and left.

But he eventually acknowledged that his sister had passed away and that her body had been discovered.

“We discovered her lifeless body in the Karmo jungle; it is not something we can transport; we must make arrangements for the environmental experts to assist us in packing. We are unable to transport it. All we have to do is bury it here. Due to the way she was decomposing, it appeared like she had been dead for days, Mr. Karami said.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, responded to the development on Thursday by saying that the police were committed to determining both the immediate and remote causes of Miss Karami’s death.

The body of 26-year-old Blessing Karami, who had been missing since September 11, 2023, was unfortunately found in a wooded area in Karimo, according to Adeh. On September 14, 2023, the authorities received a complaint of her disappearance.

“We want to let the public know that, at the moment, our main priority is to undertake an exhaustive and unbiased investigation into the circumstances surrounding Blessing Karami Moses’ tragic passing, as per the direction of FCT Commissioner of Police Haruna Garba. Our dedication to this investigation is unrelenting, and we are committed to finding the root reasons of this awful tragedy both close to home and far away.

While appreciating the delicate nature of this undertaking, we are collaborating closely with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to allow the respectful retrieval of the decomposed remains. We will continue to update the public as our inquiry develops. During this trying moment, our thoughts are with Blessing Karami Moses’ family and friends.
