In the Federal Capital Territory’s Dei Dei neighborhood on Thursday night, there were arrests after an enraged mob attacked police officers affiliated with the Gwagwa police division.
The five or so officers had gone to save Mubarak, a man who had been on the verge of being lynched on a bogus disappearance allegation.
Reporters learned that a man who has not yet been named reported losing his masculinity after speaking with Mubarak, a local man who wished to remain anonymous told reporters on Friday that the mob approached him and started beating him to replace the allegedly lost masculinity.
“On Thursday night at Dei-Dei Timber market, a man named Mubarak was attacked by an enraged mob after a man claimed his manhood vanished after having contact with him,” the local claimed. When Mubarak shouted out for assistance, a few others gathered around him.
When around five cops arrived to save him, he had already been battered and was on the verge of being lynched. The police made numerous attempts to get the mob to return Mubarak to them, but to no avail.
“The mob then turned on the police officers and vandalized their car. Those who managed to get away called their office, and reinforcements arrived. Yesterday, there was tension throughout the region, and we had no idea what would come next. It is essential to take action since the manhood issue is out of control.
When contacted, Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, verified the event and said that police officers who had been sent to the area had been attacked by the mob.
she added by saying that the Police Commissioner had denounced the assault on the officers and had mandated their detention.
