Mohbad’s Father Insists on DNA Test to Settle Paternity Controversy

Lagos, Nigeria – Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has outlined the reasons for his demand that the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test of his deceased child’s son, Liam, be conducted in his presence. The move is aimed at quelling the ongoing controversy regarding the child’s paternity and other issues between the former Marlian singer and his wife.

In an interview with Stams TV on Wednesday, the late singer’s father stressed the necessity of the DNA test while debunking rumors that it had already been conducted, as suggested in a post by popular skit maker OGBCultist, believed to be a friend of Mohbad. Aloba proposed that the test be carried out at two different hospitals to ensure the accuracy of the results.

Aloba explained, “Concerning the DNA test, it’s a must they do it. Nigerians are demanding it. I heard rumors that they did it, but no matter what, I’m Mohbad’s father, so I’ll give consent to the DNA test or send anyone who can represent me during the test if I’m not there to know how they’ll do it. And even when they want to do it, it should be done in two different places so we can be very sure and know the truth.”

He further expressed his desire for the police to conclude their investigation promptly so that his late child’s burial rites can proceed.

“I will call the police boss to know if it is possible for us to bury him. In fact, many have complained of seeing Mohbad’s ghost, and this is only possible because he has not been buried. I would really be glad that this is looked into as early as possible,” he said.

MohBad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, triggering controversies that led to nationwide protests among Nigerians. The late singer’s former label boss, Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, and his associate, Samson Balogun, also called Sam Larry, were named among the five prime suspects in the case.
