Abidemi Faboye, the founder of the school where the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, attended, recently shared his memories of the artist and reflected on his NECO examination.
As reported by Findwhosabi News, Faboye, who is the proprietor and principal of Abifab College in Ikorodu, Lagos, a secondary school, reminisced about his first encounter with the late singer in 2013. He mentioned that Mohbad’s elder sister, Blessing, had also graduated from the same school that year.
Reflecting on Mohbad’s time as a student, Faboye described him as initially quiet and slender when he first joined from a public school. However, he noted that the artist had transformed over the years, gaining weight after secondary school.
Faboye praised Mohbad’s academic abilities, emphasizing that he passed his exams in a single attempt, a remarkable achievement. Mohbad successfully completed the National Examination Council senior secondary certificate exam at the age of 17 in 2015.
During Mohbad’s two years at the school, he affectionately referred to Faboye as “daddy,” although the school preferred students to address him as “Abifab” or “Mr. Abifab.” Mohbad pursued a commercial course and achieved excellent results, above average.
Faboye recalled Mohbad as a peaceful and easygoing individual who rarely caused any trouble during his time at the school.
Regarding Mohbad’s affiliation with Naira Marley’s record label, the Marlian group, Faboye expressed surprise and mentioned his initial doubts about how well Mohbad would fit into such a group. He believed that Mohbad may have been influenced by others who joined the label.
Faboye shared that he and other teachers who had taught Mohbad were genuinely surprised by his journey in the music industry. When he learned about Mohbad’s stage name, “Imole,” he reached out to him through Messenger and obtained his number.
He also discovered that Mohbad’s father was a carpenter, and as a student, Mohbad often assisted his father and learned carpentry skills from him. Additionally, Mohbad’s father was a pastor.
