In honor of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary, the Federal Government has officially declared Monday, October 2, 2023, as a public holiday. This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government in Abuja.
The Minister expressed the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to addressing the various challenges facing the country. He noted that these challenges, including socio-economic and security issues, are not unique to Nigeria but are global in nature. The government is dedicated to tackling these issues with all available resources and efforts until positive changes are achieved.
Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of unity among all Nigerians, stating that the nation’s greatness can be realized through collective effort. Nigeria is celebrated as Africa’s pride and a beacon of hope, thanks to its welcoming spirit, diverse human capital, and abundant natural resources.
He also highlighted the historic significance of Nigeria’s independence, where the nation’s founding fathers, despite their differences in faith, tribe, and language, came together to secure Nigeria’s freedom. The Minister assured that the current administration, under the Renew Hope Agenda, is committed to creating a better Nigeria for all citizens as a tribute to the sacrifices of the past.
As Nigerians celebrate Independence Day, they are encouraged to reflect on the country’s journey, honor its history, and look forward to a brighter future with renewed hope.
