Damilola Ogunsin, a Nollywood actor, shared his experience of being told by a movie director that he couldn’t pursue an acting career due to his albinism. In a recent interview with Hip TV, he opened up about the challenges he has faced in the industry.
Ogunsin said, “When I was coming into Nollywood, I had a major director who I will not mention his name. He looked at me and said, ‘Why do you want to be an actor? How many albinos do you find as actors? It’s not a place for you to be.’
“I have been doing theatre since primary school. I have been in the theatre group in my primary school, secondary school, my church, in my polytechnic in Ibadan, in University of Lagos, and everywhere.”
Damilola Ogunsin, known as the ‘Gold Fish’, expressed his passion for the theater and emphasized that his albinism does not hinder him from pursuing his dreams. He made the decision to leave his banking job and pursue a career in Nollywood due to his unwavering determination to become an actor.
It is worth noting that he played Ekun in the movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’.
