NAF Utilizes Fighter Jets to Target and Dismantle IPOB Hideouts

The Nigerian Air Force fighter jets, operating under the air component of Operation Udo Ka II, took decisive action on Tuesday by eliminating the armories and hiding places of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) combatants in the states of Anambra and Imo.

In a series of precision air strikes, these fighter jets targeted the enclaves of IPOB fighters at two key locations: Mother Valley Orsumughu in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State and Aku Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

This operation came in response to credible intelligence indicating that these fighters were planning to unleash violence on residents and other states within the region. Some of the locations that were struck were identified as their ammunition and weapon storage facilities.

According to Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF spokesperson, “Aircraft under the Air Component of Operation Udo Ka II carried out several strikes on IPOB/ESN locations at Mother Valley Orsumughu in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State and at Aku Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. The strikes at both locations achieved their intended outcome and were deemed effective.”

The airstrikes in Anambra targeted the concealed bunkers and hideouts at Mother Valley Orsumughu, which were believed to also store weapons and ammunition. These strikes were carried out in conjunction with ground troops and other security agencies. The outcome was deemed successful as the targets were hit, leading to fleeing terrorists and a visible impact.

Furthermore, the air strikes extended to Imo State, where IPOB fighters had planned to hold a meeting. Air strikes were executed on the hideout camps in Aku Ihube, following a detailed analysis of intelligence on the terrorists’ convergence at this location. The targets were acquired and successfully attacked.

In summary, the Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with ground forces and security agencies, effectively neutralized IPOB combatant hideouts and armories in Anambra and Imo States to counter potential threats and maintain peace in the region.
