Azeez Adesina Fashola, more commonly known as Naira Marley, has addressed the alleged conflict and tragic passing of his former protege, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Mohbad’s unfortunate demise occurred on September 12, followed by a surprisingly swift burial in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
In light of the 27-year-old singer’s death, certain individuals have pointed fingers at Naira Marley and some members of Marlian Records, including music promoter Sam Larry.
However, during a conversation with former presidential media aide Reno Omokri on Wednesday evening, Naira Marley vehemently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s passing.
He emphasized that he had made several attempts to seek help for the late rapper after being alerted to his suicidal tendencies by Mohbad’s partner.
Naira Marley recounted, “When I visited him in the company of his mum and dad, I went to see him in the room. He said only his mum and dad knew what was wrong with him. His mum and dad said they wanted to take care of him, and I begged them to take care of him and not allow anything to happen to him.”
He went on to explain that he recorded a video of their conversation after the allegations surfaced, as Mohbad’s girlfriend had informed him that the rapper had locked himself up and was contemplating self-harm.
Naira Marley clarified that, following their discussion, Mohbad had apologized and attributed his behavior to feeling paranoid. He had spoken with Mohbad to help ease his worries and negative thoughts.
