The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has responded to protests by its indigenes in Lagos State concerning the alleged sale of the state’s liaison office by the former governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura. The assembly has urged the protesters to remain calm as they are actively investigating the matter.
A 9-man ad-hoc committee, led by Hon. Larry Ven Bawa, has been set up by the assembly to conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged sale of state government properties in Lagos and other states during the administration of former Governor Al-Makura.
The committee, on arrival in Lagos, visited the building in question located at plot 1234 Bishop Oluwole, Victoria Island, to inspect the entire structure. After the inspection, Bawa stated that their purpose was to investigate the alleged sale of state government properties, determine the cause of the protests in Lagos, assess the condition of the building, and investigate the transaction process, including the buyer and whether the money was deposited into the state government’s coffers.
Bawa assured the protesting indigenes that the State Assembly would thoroughly investigate the matter. The President of Nasarawa State Development Association, Lagos chapter, Musa Ikushigya, expressed appreciation for the lawmakers’ visit and pledged to cooperate with their investigation.
