Organized labor workers in Nasarawa State have voiced their strong opposition to the federal government’s decision to eliminate fuel subsidies, joining a nationwide protest with significant participation.

Led by Comrade Ismaila Oko, the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, the protesters urged the government to reconsider the fuel subsidy removal due to its negative impact on citizens’ living standards.

Protesting along Shendam Road in Lafia, the state capital, the workers marched resolutely to the Government House, where they submitted a formal letter of protest to the state government.

Mrs. Abigail Waya, the State Head of Service, received the letter on behalf of Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe. She acknowledged the hardships faced by the people and disclosed that both the state and federal governments have formed committees to address these issues. She assured the public that palliative measures would soon be implemented to alleviate the consequences of the subsidy removal.

The Nasarawa State chapter of the NLC demonstrated solidarity by marching from Total filling station to the Deputy Governor’s office at Shendam Road in Lafia.

According to Findwhosabi reports, the protest in Nasarawa State adds to the nationwide outcry against the fuel subsidy removal, with workers and citizens uniting to voice their concerns and demand a reconsideration of the government’s decision.
