Nationwide Strike Looms Over Minimum Wage Dispute

Organized Labour may begin a nationwide strike on Monday, June 3, over stalled minimum wage negotiations. Labour representatives walked out of a meeting last Tuesday, accusing government negotiators of unseriousness, and are mobilizing for a strike depending on today’s meeting outcome.

Sources within Labour indicated frustration with state governors allegedly obstructing the process, increasing pressure on the Federal Government. Labour leaders emphasized their patience amid hardships and statutory obligations for a new minimum wage, criticizing the government’s attitude towards workers’ welfare.

A Presidency source highlighted that state governors’ reluctance to endorse a reasonable minimum wage is pressuring the Federal Government. Despite Labour’s high demands, the source stressed the necessity of reaching a new minimum wage agreement to comply with legal requirements.
