NCC Orders Reactivation of Blocked SIMs Amid NIN-SIM Verification Issues

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed telecommunication operators to reactivate phone lines blocked due to the NIN-SIM verification exercise. This comes after MTN deactivated numerous lines for not linking National Identification Numbers (NIN) with phone numbers, following NCC’s directive to enforce disconnections from July 31, 2024.

Disgruntled MTN customers have flooded the company’s offices, expressing frustration over the sudden deactivation. In response, the NCC issued a statement on Monday, mandating the immediate reactivation of all affected SIMs. More details are expected soon.
