The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria has reported several significant drug-related arrests and seizures, along with the recovery of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during recent operations:
Explosives Recovery: The NDLEA recovered 399 pieces of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from a suspect named Asana Leke, aged 39, along the Mokwa-Jebba road. The explosives were meant to be delivered from Ibadan, Oyo State, to Kaduna State. The suspect and the explosives were transferred to military authorities in Niger State.
Drug Seizures: NDLEA operatives intercepted consignments of skunk concealed in tomato paste and methamphetamine hidden in used clothes, intended for export to Dubai, UAE. Additionally, 556 grams of Canadian Loud were intercepted and linked to a recipient in Ikorodu, Lagos. The NDLEA carried out these operations to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
Notorious Drug Lord: In Mushin, Lagos, NDLEA operatives raided the enclave of a notorious drug lord named Abdul Rauf (aka ‘Na God’) and recovered 1,101 kilograms of Ghanaian Loud. Three suspects were arrested during the raid.
Kogi State Arrest: A 22-year-old man, Emmanuel Agada, was arrested with 77.4 kilograms of cannabis along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway in Kogi State. Earlier, 369,980 pills of opioids were recovered on the same road, and the suspect, Kabiru Ahmad Abdullahi, was arrested in Gombe State.
Ogun State Arrest: In Ogun State, a follow-up operation led to the arrest of Yinka Azeez in Abeokuta, following the seizure of 41 kilograms of cannabis from Titilayo Adetayo at Sagumu Interchange.
Skunk Seizure in Kano: Two suspects, Muhammad Aliyu and Abdullahi Zakariya, were arrested on Zaria-Kano Road and Haye Arewa, Hotoro, Kano State, with 426.5 kilograms of skunk.
Anambra and Edo State Arrests: In Anambra state, Onyeka Uzor was arrested with 64.8 kilograms of skunk and tramadol, while in Edo State, NDLEA operatives destroyed cannabis farms in Onwude LGA. A 60-year-old grandma, Mrs. Eunice Egwehide, was also arrested in Edo State with 17 kilograms of skunk.
Yobe and Imo State Arrests: A suspect, Gapchiya Modu, was arrested with 60 kilograms of cannabis along Kano-Nguru Road, Nguru, Yobe State. In Imo State, 200 blocks of cannabis weighing 57 kilograms were recovered from Usim Orji along Aba-Owerri road.
Kingpin Arrest: A wanted kingpin, Idoko Ifesinachi, linked to the importation of 76.9 kilograms of Canadian Loud intercepted in Port Harcourt, was arrested in Lagos and taken to Port Harcourt after over two months of surveillance.
These operations reflect the NDLEA’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and related criminal activities across Nigeria. Additionally, the recovery of explosives highlights the agency’s role in addressing various security challenges.
