Months after his suspension as Parish Shepherd of the City of David under The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), former pastor Idowu Iluyomade has officially unveiled his new ministry, ‘The Family Fellowship.’ The inaugural service, held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, was a joyous celebration filled with exuberant dancing and worship. A video from the event, which surfaced on Monday morning, captured the vibrant atmosphere as congregants joined in this fresh spiritual journey.
Iluyomade, previously known for his leadership at the City of David, faced suspension in 2024 after his wife’s lavish 60th birthday celebration drew criticism for its timing, coming shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, a prominent church member. This sparked a wave of backlash, leading to an RCCG investigation and the Iluyomades’ reassignment to the church headquarters. Despite the controversy, Iluyomade and his wife have now embraced a new chapter, dedicating themselves to furthering their spiritual mission through independent ministry.
Announcing the launch of ‘The Family Fellowship,’ Iluyomade took to Instagram to extend an invitation to all. “Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience,” he wrote. The ministry marks a significant step forward for the couple, symbolizing resilience and a commitment to their calling despite past challenges.
