In a heartbreaking incident, a day-old baby boy was found abandoned in the Tayi area of Minna, Niger State. The infant was rescued by local residents just minutes after being left unattended, at a time when soldier ants had already started infesting him.
The baby, wrapped in leather and left without clothes, was discovered by a concerned individual on Saturday evening. The rescuer, Aliyu Bala Ibrahim, reported that the newborn still had the umbilical cord attached and appeared to have been born just a few hours before abandonment.
Expressing shock at the scene, Ibrahim called for strict punishment against individuals who engage in such heartless acts of abandonment. The baby, now in the care of local authorities, is expected to undergo necessary medical assessments and care.
