A newly wedded NDLEA official, Aliyu Imran, was tragically killed by a mob in Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Imran, an Assistant Superintendent of Narcotic 1, was reportedly set ablaze after a chase involving a suspected drug dealer ended in a fatal accident that killed at least three people.
Following the crash, Imran tried to calm the crowd but was attacked and sustained stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a hospital by a police officer, the mob later stormed the facility and set him on fire.
Imran’s family expressed their disappointment with the NDLEA, accusing the agency of failing to issue a statement or offer condolences. They claimed the agency often covers such incidents to avoid compensating bereaved families.
