Governor Umar Bago of Niger State in North Central Nigeria has demonstrated his commitment to women’s inclusion in his administration by appointing 131 women as coordinators and senior special assistants (SSAs) in the state. This move fulfills the governor’s campaign promise to ensure women have a significant role in his governance.
The announcement of these appointments was made by Abubakar Usman, the secretary to the state governor. Usman explained that the selection of these appointees was based on their merit, proven credentials, personal integrity, and exceptional records of past achievements.
Of the 131 appointments, 41 individuals were named coordinators, while the remaining 90 were designated senior special assistants (SSAs). These appointees are expected to contribute to the administration’s policies, aiming to enhance the quality of life for the state’s citizens.
Governor Bago’s proactive stance toward women’s representation in politics and governance is evident in his promise to allocate around 100 political positions to women within his administration. This dedication to creating women-friendly policies and addressing gender-related issues aligns with his vision to fulfill the aspirations and needs of women in the state.
