Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has strongly criticized the Federal Government’s economic policies, blaming them for the worsening hardship faced by Nigerians. Speaking at a PDP National Reconciliation Committee meeting in Bauchi, which was attended by governors from the North-East, Fintiri lamented the country’s economic struggles, stating that “Nigeria is bleeding, and people are suffering.”
He urged the government to reconsider policies that only worsen citizens’ plight, emphasizing that governance should be built on trust and accountability. According to him, Nigeria does not belong to the IMF or World Bank but to its people, and any policy that brings unnecessary hardship should be avoided.
On politics, Fintiri reaffirmed the PDP’s strong presence in the North-East, stressing that the party won in all states except Borno, where he questioned the election outcome. Meanwhile, PDP leaders at the meeting acknowledged that internal disunity cost them the last election and vowed to rebuild the party’s strength.
