Jos, Nigeria – Major General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, has affirmed a dedicated commitment to ensuring the safety and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Plateau State.
During a visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Jos this week, Abubakar outlined the collaborative efforts between his command and the military’s Operation Safe Haven to uphold peace in Plateau. In a statement released on Saturday via the Nigerian Army’s official channel, he emphasized, “The wellbeing of NYSC members is paramount. We have employed intelligence and proactive actions to tackle criminalities and reassure citizens of their safety.”
Abubakar urged corps members to remain vigilant and actively contribute to security by providing useful information to apprehend suspicious individuals. He advised them to steer clear of social vices and uphold law-abiding conduct.
The senior commander issued a stern warning, declaring that criminals would find no refuge, as Operation Safe Haven troops are resolute in their commitment to tracking them down. He reiterated the military’s steadfast dedication to securing Plateau State and called on stakeholders to support initiatives aimed at promoting lasting peace.
In response, Mrs. Esther Ikupolati, the NYSC State Coordinator, expressed gratitude to the GOC for prioritizing the security of corps members, acknowledging the collaborative efforts to maintain a secure environment for NYSC activities in Plateau State.
